Princeton Piranhas Swim Team
To promote excellence at all levels, both in the pool and in our community through discipline and commitment

Piranha Newsis the head coach of the Piranhas.  Julie started swimming at the age of 9 for Hamilton Y Aquatics Club.  Julie then attended and swam at The Peddie School from 8th grade through high school.  Julie attended Hartwick College and became an All American Honorable Mention in the 200 fly.  She then transferred to Washington College where she was conference champ in the 100 and 200 fly.  Julie graduated from Washington College majoring in Business Management.  She then went on for her Masters from West Chester University in Sport and Athletic Administration.  Julie has coached at various local clubs and had taught swim lessons for 12 years before starting Piranha Swimming in 2006.  She is currently an ASCA level III coach.

Piranha News

Robin Meirs has been coaching youth sports for over 20 years. She is a USS Certified Official and works many meets on deck in that capacity. She officiated and coached with Hamilton Y Aquatic Club before working with Piranhas. Several of her children have swum competitively throughout high school and college.

 

Piranha Newshas been coaching USA Age group for 12 years.  Kip is a Level III ASCA certified coach, and was ASCA’s 2000 Age Group coach of the year.  Kip recently left Emmaus Aquatic Club where he was the Head Age Group Coach, Aquatic Director and supervised the SwimAmericaTM lesson program.  He has been the Middle Atlantic Zone Coach 6 times the last 3 being the Head Coach.  Kip was the Age Group Chair for Middle Atlantic Swimming for the past three years.   Kip swam for Central Bucks East High School in Bucks County PA and Club Swam with Team Foxcatcher, under coach Dick Shoulberg.  He attended Ohio University where he was the first freshman to make the conference team, and was two time recipient of the hardest worker award.  Kip transferred from Ohio University and graduated from University of Wisconsin Stevens Point where Kip was two-time defending champ in the 1650 free.

Piranha News

This is Nicole’s fourth year coaching for the Piranhas. She started swimming at the age of 12, and continued through High School, swimming for Hillsborough High School, SVY, and Roycefield club team in the summer.  She primarily swam 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke.  She also coached for the Roycefield Rapids for the past 6 summers. She has had experience teaching swimming lessons to children of all ages. Nicole attended The College of New Jersey and earned a BS in Elementary Education/English. She loves working with children whether it is in the classroom or on the pool deck!

Piranha News

Marni Bentley is an assistant coach for the Piranhas.  Marni started swimming at the age of six for the Red Bank YMCA.  Marni attended The Peddie School, with Julie, and swam through high school, earning All American on a 200 freestyle relay.  She continued her swimming career at The College of New Jersey where she excelled in 50 free, 100 and 200 breaststroke.  Marni graduated in 2004 with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration.  Marni currently works for Bank of America Merrill Lynch during the day and enjoys coaching at night.
